Dix Property
Since mental health treatment at the Dorothea Dix property has been substantially reduced and may be completely eliminated in the next few years, it is time to establish a 306-acre destination park on this site. This beautiful landscape should not be used merely for State offices or for development for commercial purposes.
This is an outstanding opportunity for our City to have a central park between our business district and North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus. I do not know of another city our size that has such an opportunity. I look forward to working with the Governor of North Carolina, the rest of the Council of State and advocates for the Dix Hill Park to achieve this goal.
