Economic Future
Raleigh’s top priority is to position itself to make the current recession as short as possible and to come out of this recession as soon as we can. In part, this means spending the over $35 million in Federal Stimulus money that the City has already been granted. It also means continuing our capital projects that have been funded, such as the widening and extension of Falls of the Neuse Road.
It also means investing in sustainability projects with local vendors, such as LED lighting and solar power, which will help these new industries grow in our community.
The City is also a significant player in seeing to it that our less fortunate residents have adequate food and housing. The City should continue its funding for the Interfaith Food Shuttle as well as its affordable housing programs. In these times of need, the least fortunate among us should have at least food and shelter.
